NASA tracking asteroid up to 820ft wide hurtling up to 38,000mph towards Earth's orbit

NASA is tracking an asteroid between 100m (328ft) and 250m (820ft) wide which is expected to rocket past Earth tomorrow. The space agency's Centre for Near Earth Object Studies confirmed the space rock on its website, dubbing the flying mass 2020 FM6.

The asteroid is believed to be hurtling through space towards Earth at speeds of up to 37,893mph and will intersect with Earth’s orbit on the Monday at 8.35am.

It has been classified as an Apollo asteroid, which is known to be one of the most dangerous kinds. Apollo asteroids are those which have a path which intersects with Earth’s orbit, unlike Amor asteroids which do not.
