Nasa's Mars rover Perseverance has sent back its first colour pictures following its successful landing on the red planet. The rover transmitted the spectacular new images from the surface of the giant following yesterday's landing.
The rover is searching for signs of extinct life on the planet. One picture shared via its Twitter account showed a barren and dusty landscape and the shadow of the rover across the ground.
Another image taken by the rover shared on Twitter showed what appeared to be yellow rocks next to one of the vehicle's wheels.
