WATERLOO Road star Richard Mylan has opened up about his secret 20-year heroin addiction. The 48-year-old actor played deputy head teacher Simon Lowsley in the BBC drama and has now revealed he started taking the class A drug at the beginning of his career.

Admitting the interview with the BBC could be "career-ending" he insisted he didn't care and wanted to be honest after years of keeping it secret.

The dad-of-two said he first took heroin during "one night of weakness" after a "few drinks", but it lead to a "cycle of abuse".
