'Multiple people dead' after Taiwan train derails and crashes inside tunnel
dailystar.co.ukLTN news.It is thought that two carriages derailed from the train and that a car accident between Heren and Chongde in Xiulin Township caused the derailment.Emergency services personnel have been dispatched to the scene along with Hualien County Fire Department.It is understood that more than 20 ambulances have been directed to the scene from New Taipei City to Hualien County.Unconfirmed reports suggest there could be as many as 50 people still trapped in the train and in the tunnel.The train was believed to have been carrying around 350 passengers when the train crashed.
According to Reuters between 80 to 100 people have been evacuated from the first four carriages of the train, while carriages five to eight have “deformed” and are hard to.
