Mohamed Salah stepped up to give a speech to his beleaguered Egypt team-mates after they missed out on World Cup qualification just months after losing in the Africa Cup of Nations final.

Those two heartbreaking defeats on penalties, both at the hands of a Sadio Mane inspired Senegal, could have pushed the Liverpool forward into early international retirement despite being three months short of his 30th birthday.

Salah was even interrupted in his comments by Egypt's Sport Minister as he hinted that he might step away from his duties - in a move could prolong his club career in the Premier League.

Captured on camera, a visibly emotional Salah said: "I spoke with the players in the dressing room before the second leg and told them that I am proud to play with them and they are one of the finest people to have played with."I have spent some time with the previous generations with Wael Gomaa and Mohamed Aboutrika as well as the Abdallah Said generation and I am very happy with the current group.
