The Englishman founded the successful practice back in to 2009, and since gone on to open 200 practices, alongside continuing his career as an acclaimed amateur jockey.However with the biggest meeting in the racing calendar back this week in the 2022 Cheltenham Festival, Waley-Cohen’s focus will no doubt be back on his horse racing exploits.The amateur headed into this week’s event with an impressive Cheltenham Festival record, having secured four victories at the prestigious meet throughout his racing career.
This of course includes his famous victory in 2011, when he claimed victory in the Festival’s main event the Cheltenham Gold Cup following an epic performance from Long Run.The 39-year-old returned to the famous track this week, after amateur riders were unable to compete at last year’s Festival due to the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Ahead of the meet, Waley-Cohen described returning to the Festival as ‘special’ for him and his fellow unpaid jockeys.Per the Racing Post, he said: “It'll be so special.
