Verstappen led off the line, but the race was immediately red-flagged following Zhou Guanyu’s horrifying crash which him flip upside down and career into the catch fencing.
Sainz led away from the restart, but Verstappen took the lead when the Spaniard made a mistake and ran off the track. The Dutchman looked set to race off into the distance at the point, only for his race to unravel in dramatic fashion.
