proposal to his girlfriend went disastrously wrong after he lost the £500 engagement ring and became so cold he caught hyperthermia.Atick Miah, 47, had planned to pop the question to long-term partner Tiana Mia, 36, at the top of Welsh mountain Snowdon. But the romantic gesture couldn’t have gone worse for ill-fated Atick as his backpack snapped off with the white gold ring inside it.The loved-up pair, who both work as personal trainers, had decided to start making their own way down the mountain after Atick took a break and powerful wind stopped Tiana returning along the same route. They agreed to meet at Lake Glaslyn, but as the light disappeared and the temperatures plummeted the badly lost 47-year-old made his way down on his backside and fell into a small waterfall. He told North Wales Live: “I was wet through, shaking with the cold.

I tied a scarf over my head to keep warm.“I ached all over and, when I tried to rest, I began cramping badly. I had nothing more to give.” Miraculously, Tiana stumbled across Atick after she had followed the Snowdon Mountain Railway track and flagging a cab back up to Pen y Pass .

She rushed him to hospital, where medics diagnosed him with hyperthermia and gave him drugs to improve his condition.“Back at the hotel there was a sense of relief – but also sadness that I never got the chance to ask the question,” Atick admitted.“My hands are still swollen from sliding down the mountain, but I’m feeling stronger now.“After four or five hours the pain became more manageable.”Gutted Tiana, who since became aware of her boyfriend’s proposal plans, took to a Facebook Snowdonia forum to appeal for anyone who has seen the ring to come forward.Stay in the loop with all the Daily Star's latest news by.
