Marc Overmars lands new job weeks after quitting Ajax over 'lewd texts to female staff'

Ajax amid accusations he sent 'lewd texts' to female members of staff.The Dutchman was appointed as Ajax's director of football in 2012 and oversaw a stunning period of success during his decade at the club.

Ajax won four Eredivise titles, two KNVB Cups and reached the semi-finals of the Champions League during that timespan.But he left the Johan Cruyff Arena in disgrace in February after Ajax released a statement alleging he had sent a 'series of inappropriate messages' to female staff members during an 'extended period of time'.

He has been out of work ever since that statement, but appears to have now been handed a route back into the world of football.Overmars has been announced as the new technical director of Royal Antwerp.

It is stated that the Belgian side consider his departure from Ajax a 'private matter' and are instead focused on his 'enormous track record' as an executive at the Dutch giants.Antwerp are hoping that Overmars can lead them into a new period of sustained success, having last won the Belgian title in 1957.
