Manchester United have reportedly passed up the chance to sign rising star Julian Alvarez as rivals Manchester City look to be closing in.
The Argentine forward has been linked with a move to Old Trafford in recent weeks, although it seems more likely now that he will be heading over to the blue side of Manchester.
City have joined some of Europe’s top clubs in the race for the River Plate star, who scored 20 goals in 25 appearances last season to be named South America’s best player.
Reports in Argentina suggest the Blues have already made an offer for the 21-year-old, who is expected to head out on loan to one of City’s sister clubs in Europe should he sign for Pep Guardiola’s side.
