Manchester music venues have begun announcing closures after the government's latest coronavirus advice. People were warned to stay away from restaurants, bars, theatres and clubs, and avoid 'unnecessary contact' including mass gatherings, in Boris Johnson's daily briefing yesterday.
And while he stopped short of ordering outright event bans and closures, a number of Manchester's gig venues have now shut in light of the announcement.
While the closures are temporary for now, campaign group UK Music has warned 'much loved venues will go to the wall' unless the government offers a lifeline.
Albert Hall is among the Manchester venues announcing it is shutting for now, vowing to reopen 'when this crisis has passed'.
