Manchester United player Patrice Evra will make his boxing debut in a fight against YouTuber Adam Saleh next month.Evra retired from football in 2019 and is now poised to step into the ring for a fight for the first time at the O2 Arena in London on April 30.
The 40-year-old will take on Saleh on the undercard of the heavyweight clash between Martyn Ford, who is known as the World’s Scariest Man, and the Iranian Hulk, whose real name is Sajad Gharibi.Unlike Evra, Saleh has some ring experience, having fought three times on major YouTube boxing cards before, winning twice and drawing one.
The 28-year-old, an American of Yemeni origin, has beaten Marcus Stephenson and Anas Elshayib and drawn with Walid Sharks."I'm really excited to participate for the first time ever in my life in a boxing match, because I always had so much respect for people boxing,” Evra said. "It is not just about power and strength, it is also about strategy and technique.
It's like a chess game."What I am the most excited for is the training technique, because the way they train is completely different to how football players train.
