Emergency services were scrambled to Atherton Road at around 8.15pm yesterday evening (Tuesday May 18) following the incident, near the Spinners Arms pub.
The driver remained at the scene and the man was taken to hospital. His injuries have been described by police as 'serious but non-life-threatening'.
A Greater Manchester Police (GMP) spokesman said: "Police were called at around 8.15pm on Tuesday 18 May to a report of a collision involving a car and a pedestrian on Atherton Road, Hindley Green.
