Main road closed as fire crews battle house blaze

Crews were called at around 4pm to Firs Lane after a blaze broke out in the kitchen of a terraced home near the junction with Wigan Road and Twist Lane.
Fire engines from Leigh, Atherton and Hindley stations were at the scene. An ambulance was also called to the area but nobody is believed to have been injured in the blaze.
A spokesperson for the fire service said: "At 4.08pm on Tuesday, March 30, firefighters were called to reports of a fire at a house on Firs Lane, in Leigh. "Fire engines from Atherton, Leigh and Hindley quickly attended the scene.
