Madeleine McCann’s murder insists he has no alibi.Hans Christian Wolters defended his claim Christian Brueckner is behind the Brit girl’s 2007 disappearance. It came after TV investigator Mark Williams-Thomas said he was convinced the convicted child sex offender was innocent.Mr Wolters, who is heading the case in Germany, said: “Because Mr Williams-Thomas doesn’t know the files we are not surprised by his opinion.

It’s a fact that the suspect has no alibi.“We found nobody who gives Christian B an alibi. And the suspect doesn’t claim an alibi.”In a new documentary screened last night Mr Williams-Thomas revealed Brueckner, 44, had written a series of letters to him from prison. He denied he was involved in three-year-old Madeleine’s disappearance from her family’s holiday apartment in Praia da Luz, Portugal.Brueckner claimed he was in a relationship with a 17-year-old German holidaymaker at the time and was with her in another part of the Algarve.Mr Williams-Thomas tracked down Brueckner’s ex 15 years on and she is said to have confirmed his account. This evening the investigator said: “This is very disappointing from Mr Wolters.

Many of his statements are just not accurate.“Christian B has an alibi.”It comes after Mr Williams-Thomas claimed Brueckner confessed new crimes to the investigator but he insisted he had nothing to do with Madeleine's disappearance in 2007.

The Brit ex-cop, 52, is the first person the convicted child sex offender has opened up to since he was accused of killing the missing youngster by law chiefs in his native Germany two years ago.Brueckner, 44, confessed to flogging drugs from his camper van at an Algarve tourist beach.
