The Russian Hachiko has been alone since owners Maxim and Rimma died in a car crash, since then he reportedly runs away from kindhearted residents or animal shelters who have tried to help him.
According to local media there is a heartbreaking story behind this. After the tragic death of the couple, family members did not want to adopt the lonely dog, who's name is unclear.
One member tied the pup to its deceased owners' headstone and left it there. After this, the canine was left there for a week before animal shelter workers came to his rescue - but he did not want to leave.
