Love Island’s Sharon Gaffka has come forward and shared her experience after she was spiked during a meal with friends, which left her unconscious and hospitalised. The star, who appeared in the villa in 2021, said that she was at lunch with some pals when she was spiked after going to the bathroom.Sharon has said that she was deeply shaken by the event and wants to raise awareness to try and prevent the same happening to anyone else. The influencer explained that she felt “ashamed” after the incident and is now campaigning to change laws against the offence.Gaffka said: "I was so ashamed about what happened to me that I never intended to speak about it.
There is so much victim shaming and I didn’t want other people to judge me.”“I have this platform now where around 90 per cent of my following is young women, and last year there were stories coming out about spikings by injection.
I thought if I could normalise sharing our stories, more women might feel empowered to come forward and then we could actually challenge the perpetrators.”The spiking occurred back in 2020 after Sharon had drunk a “few glasses of wine” but was “completely sober".
Sharon went to use the bathroom but when she never returned, her friends became worried and went looking for her, only to find she was locked in a cubicle. She was unresponsive which meant an ambulance was called, but paramedics thought she’d had “too much to drink” and told her friends to take her home.
