London Marathon chiefs are hopeful of staging at least an elite race to mark their 40th anniversary this October. With major marathons in Boston, Berlin, Chicago and New York all cancelled, 1000s of ‘London’ runners find themselves in limbo.
The race was originally scheduled for April 26 before the Covid pandemic shut down the sporting calendar. Organisers have promised a final decision on the October 4 race no later than August 7.
It seems likely the mass-participation element will go the same way as September’s Great North Run, which was called off last month.
