The episode concluded as she read aloud the letter in her New York home.

The third season of Derry Girls has welcomed a few famous faces, including Liam Neeson and a Peaky Blinders star, but there was a surprising cameo in the last few minutes of Wednesday night's hour-long special. The end of the episode skipped ahead to the present day in New York as a mailman walked up to an apartment to deliver a lost letter from the 1990s that Orla (Louisa Harland) and Erin (Saoirse-Monica Jackson) had sent. As the door opens, the letter is handed to activist and writer Chelsea Clinton, the daughter of former President of the United States Bill Clinton and Hilary Clinton.

Derry Girls fans have been left “floored” and “broken” by the emotional finale to the comedy series. After three series, Derry Girls aired on Channel 4 for the last time on Wednesday (18 May).
