Nick Vivarelli International Correspondent Mad World, the global sales arm of pan-Arab indie outfit Mad Solutions, has acquired international rights to Egyptian director Mohamed Rashad’s “The Settlement” ahead of its world premiere at the Berlin Film Festival. The family drama, which nabbed Best Feature Film at the 2024 Chicago South Asian Film Festival, explores the volatile dynamics between a father and son forced to spend 48 hours together.

Anna Marie de la Fuente “Cable Girls” lead Yon Gonzalez and Samantha Siqueiros, from “Money Heist” prequel “Berlin,” are set to topline Telemundo’s remake of Spanish hit series “Velvet.” They are joined by Ecuador’s Danilo Carrera, whose credits include “Sed de Venganza” and “Hijas de la Luna.” The original “Velvet” is a 2014 Spanish drama series produced by Bambú Productions for Atresmedia Televisión. Created by Ramon Campos and Gema R. Neira, the show is set in the world of fashion and delves into themes of love, family and ambition.

The film is an epic family tale that traces the lives of four generations over the course of a single year. Set in 1991, as China undergoes sweeping socio-economic changes that drive many to leave their rural villages in pursuit of work in the cities, 10-year-old Chuang, the third child of his family, must remain in the village due to family plans.

PVRIS have announced a run of tour dates celebrating the 10th anniversary of their debut album ‘White Noise’ – find all the details below.The Massachusetts band, now comprised solely of frontwoman Lynn Gunn, are due to hit the road in March to mark the decade-milestone.They’ll play their 2014 record “front to back” at the forthcoming concerts, and treat fans to a second “special select set consisting of songs from the more recent PVRIS catalogue”.Kicking off in Atlanta (March 13), the US leg of the trek will also include stops in Dallas (15), Denver (27) and Los Angeles (29).PVRIS will then embark on the European part of the tour in the summer, when they’ll take to the stage in Hamburg (June 29), Berlin (July 1) Munich (2), Cologne (5) and Paris (6).They are then scheduled to return to the UK for special headline gigs at the Albert Hall in Manchester (July 8) and KOKO in Camden Town, London (9). Elsa Keslassy International Correspondent Leonor Serraille‘s “Ari,” one of the most anticipated European films slated to world premiere in competition at the Berlin Film Festival, has been boarded by Pamela Leu’s Be For Films. “Ari” marks Serraille’s follow up to “Mother and Son” (“Un petit frere”) which competed at Cannes in 2022. Her feature debut, “Jeune Femme,” won the Golden Camera at Cannes in 2017.
