Manchester City are said to be surprised at Liverpool’s reported involvement in Premier League clubs’ bid to stop them playing in the Champions League next season.
City will currently play no part in the competition next season or the season after due to a UEFA ban which found them guilty of serious breaches of the financial fair play regulations.
The current top flight champions have always denied any wrongdoing, however, and have appealed to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) against their ban.
