Real Madrid wanted to sign him because of what he did to Mohamed Salah in the 2018 Champions League final. A 16-year-old Elliott was firmly on Madrid's radar before he opted to join Liverpool from Fulham in 2019.
Los Blancos tried their best to sign the teenager, rolling out the card carpet on his visit to the iconic Bernabeu. As part of their charm offensive, the La Liga champions offered to arrange a meeting between Elliott and then-captain Ramos.
But the Surrey-born star turned down that offer due to the defender's challenge on Salah during the Champions League final in 2018.

Salah famously bawled his eyes out after falling awkwardly on his shoulder under a challenge from Ramos and having to go off 30 minutes into the final four years ago. Do you think Liverpool will make amends and win the Champions League against Real Madrid?
