LIL Nas X has launched a controversial pair of "Satan" Nike sneakers complete with a bronze pentagram and an inverted cross — plus a drop of real human blood.
The rapper’s shoes have sparked outrage online over the weekend from a number of high-profile political and religious figures.
The black and red sneakers, part of a collaboration between Lil Nas X and New York-based art collective MSCHF. But although they were made using Nike Air Max 97s the sportswear brand has distanced itself from the design.
Nike told CNN: "We do not have a relationship with Lil Nas or MSCHF. "Nike did not design or release these shoes and we do not endorse them." As part of the limited-edition "drop" of 666 pairs, each sneaker’s air bubble sole contains red ink.
