It's been over 20 years since Blood Omen: Legacy of Kain debuted on the PlayStation, and showed the world at large that gamers had an appetite for dark, brooding games teeming with vampiric lore, existential crises and bloody violence.
The PlayStation, at the time, was mostly home to colourful, family-friendly action games and platformers but Legacy of Kain, as a series, would prove a cult hit for all the right reasons.
The most widely acclaimed title of the series, Soul Reaver, sits at an impressive 91 on Metacritic (that's a higher rating than PSOne stablemates Final Fantasy VIII, Resident Evil 2 and Wipeout 3), and the other games in the series don't trail too far behind.
