LOS ANGELES – The Coronavirus pandemic has surged to such record levels that officials in Los Angeles County have labeled these as “an alarming and dangerous phase.” The Los Angeles County Department of Public Health reported 59 new deaths and 4,592 new cases of COVID-19 on Thursday.
This is the largest increase in new cases in a twenty-four hour period, surpassing the count from July 14 of 4,244 new cases.
Over the last 48 hours, there have been 7,350 new cases according to Public Health officials. If these trends are not reversed health officials said that it could quickly overwhelm intensive care units and usher in more sweeping closures.
