And it did not take long for Tsimikas to get a reminder of the high standards demanded at Liverpool. Just seven minutes after his introduction, captain James Milner played the ball into Tsimikas and overlapped looking for a 1-2.
Instead of giving the ball back to Milner, Tsimikas cut back inside and looked for another pass - prompting a foul-mouthed outburst from his captain.
