Jurgen Klopp has admitted Liverpool were tracking new signing Kostas Tsimikas for "a long time" and hailed the Greek international's "attitude and mentality".
The 24-year-old completed an £11.75million switch from Olympiakos on Monday after successfully passing a medical. Liverpool moved for Tsimikas after failing to agree on a deal with Norwich for full-back Jamal Lewis, though their new addition was assured he was the club's first choice.
Reports had suggested The Reds had been monitoring Tsimikas' progress for the last three years before making their approach, while Klopp is said to have contacted the player personally to fend off interest from Leicester.
