A lifeline bus service to the most-isolated village in Greater Manchester has been saved. Campaigners in Mellor, on the outskirts of Stockport, are celebrating after the 375 service was spared the axe following a U-turn by transport chiefs.
Back in February, Transport for Greater Manchester (TfGM) pulled the subsidy for the route between Marple and Mellor - which also includes Hawk Green - on the grounds it was no longer financially viable.
The move came as a bitter blow to many in the village - particularly the elderly, school pupils and college students and those with regular appointments at Stepping Hill.
