Jose Mourinho tried to sign Alphonso Davies during his time in charge of Manchester United, according to the Canadian's former coach.
Davies joined the German giants from the Vancouver Whitecaps in January last year for £9million and the 19-year-old has developed into one of the most exciting defensive prospects in Europe.
Prior to the move, United had scouted the player for some time and were on the cusp of formalising their interest, according to Davies' former coach at Edmonton Strikers, Nick Huoseh.
However, the Red Devils spent too long deliberating over the deal, allowing Bayern Munich to swoop to bring Davies to the Allianz Arena. "When Jose Mourinho was there, he really wanted him but it never happened," Huoseh told Sky Sports.
