John Christopher Depp II (born June 9, 1963) is an American actor, singer, producer, and musician. He has been nominated for ten Golden Globe Awards, winning one for Best Actor for his performance of the title role in Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street (2008), and has been nominated for three Academy Awards for Best Actor, among other accolades. He is regarded as one of the world's biggest film stars. Depp made his film debut in the 1984 film A Nightmare on Elm Street, before rising to prominence as a teen idol on the television series 21 Jump Street (1987–1990). He had a supporting role in Oliver Stone's 1986 war film Platoon and played the title character in the 1990 romantic fantasy Edward Scissorhands.

Johnny Depp and Amber Heard have been banned from taking selfies with fans and signing autographs outside the court during their defamation trial.A judge has prohibited the A-list pair from photos or signatures on courthouse grounds - at Fairfax County Circuit Court in Virginia.The Hollywood actor is suing his fellow actor ex-wife Amber Heard for defamation and seeking £38.2million in damages.Heard is seeking £76.8m in damages in a counterclaim accusing Depp of allegedly pushing a "smear campaign" against her.The order relating to selfies and signatures followed an order a judge entered into the docket last month.The order stated: "Litigants and their legal teams in this trial will not pose for pictures or sign autographs in the Courthouse or on Courthouse Grounds".Fans of both Depp and Heard were present outside the court on Monday, which saw the jury selected for the case.Tuesday (April 12) will see both sides set out their opening statements - but the trial is expected to last for several weeks.Depp, 58, decided to take action against Heard, 35, after she wrote an opinion piece for the Washington Post in 2018, detailing her experiences with domestic abuse.Depp's lawyers claimed the article falsely implied that Amber was physically and sexually abused by Johnny during their marriage.She claimed in the article she had become a 'public figure representing domestic abuse', but did not mention Depp's name.He claims the allegations have affected his chances of work since the piece went live, most notably, his role in Fantastic Beasts was axed.However, Amber's article titled 'I spoke up against sexual violence — and faced our culture's wrath.
