JK Rowling has been urged to meet with transgender children following her comments on the transgender community.The Harry Potter author was accused of being transphobic following her tweets about trans women, prompting the likes of Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson and Eddie Redmayne to speak out in support of the community.
Charity Mermaids – which supports transgender children – published a statement asking the Harry Potter author to meet up with the children they work with.‘For our part, all we are asking is that you meet with transgender young people and listen to them with an open mind and an open heart,’ they wrote at the end of their open letter to JK.‘Don’t speak about trans children, unless you’ve listened to them first.’The charity.
