Tottenham defender Jan Vertonghen has agreed to extend his contract until the end of this season - but the Belgian could still walk away for free this summer.
Veteran back-up goalkeeper Michel Vorm has also penned terms on a temporary stay with Jose Mourinho’s squad. Vertonghen’s deal was up on June 30.
And although Spurs boss Mourinho insisted last week that “everything is open”, the 33-year-old is expected to quit the Premier League once the current campaign ends.
The Belgium international is understood to want a fresh challenge overseas after eight years at the north London club. Vertonghen was an unused substitute during Tottenham ’s 1-1 draw with Manchester United last Friday.
