ITV Coronation Street axed and Emmerdale moved in schedule shake-up as fans are fuming

Coronation Street has been axed from television tonight on Monday, January 8 as rival soap Emmerdale has also been moved amid a schedule shake-up on ITV which has left fans fuming as they took to social media.Corrie has been cancelled whilst Emmerdale has moved from its usual 7.30pm slot to 7pm to make way for the football which will air tonight on ITV1 according to reports in the Mirror.Angry viewers took to social media to rant about the changes as Coronation Street confirmed the episode would instead air on Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday this week rather than the usual Monday, Wednesday and Friday.One person fumed: "It's a poor decision made by ITV and BBC to replace regular programmes with sport that could easily be put on its digital channels.

I'm a football fan but not interested in some of the rubbish they put on."Someone else added: "I wish ITV would move the spot to either the other ITV channels or better still the sports channels where they belong.""Stop changing the schedules," a third wrote, whilst a fourth penned: "Put it on another channel, not everyone wants to sit and watch the football for three hours.

Will miss seeing Coronation Street tonight."Although Coronation Street won't air tonight, fans have been assured they will get an "extra" episode tomorrow night on Tuesday so they can pick up where things left off on the cobbles.
