Investigation into death of Strangeways prisoner who killed fellow inmate continues

direct to your inboxInvestigations are still ongoing after the death of a Strangeways inmate in 2018.Kieron Simpson died at the prison, now known as HMP Manchester, three years ago in May.His death prompted an independent investigation to be launched by the Prisons and Probation Ombudsman and subsequently led to the opening of an inquest at Manchester Coroners Court.The 29-year-old had been jailed in April 2015 for the manslaughter of another prisoner, Robert Bryan, at HMP Doncaster in February of the same year.Bryan had been standing in the communal area of the prison when Simpson approached him from behind and punched him once in the face.The blow knocked the 43-year-old to the ground.
