Coronation Street star Liz Dawn died in 2017 after more than a decade battling chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).
Liz admitted that the disease took a heavy toll on her life, most notably when she nearly collapsed at Buckingham Palace in 2000.The mother-of-four was at the palace collecting her MBE as part of the Queen's Birthday Honours, but nearly fell down when receiving the award.Liz attributed her lung and heart problems to her many years as a smoker, only quitting the habit in 2002.She was diagnosed with the disease in 2004, but said it came about after years of smoking and performing in smoke-filled clubs.Liz went onto become a celebrity ambassador for the British Lung Foundation in order to raise awareness for COPD.
