Dade Hayes Finance EditorRovio Entertainment has appointed IMG as the exclusive worldwide consumer products licensing agent for the iconic Angry Birds franchise, the companies announced Wednesday.Since launching its first mobile game in 2009, Angry Birds has grown into a multi-media brand with a presence in several areas of entertainment, technology and merchandising.
It still draws tens of millions of active users and viewers of its games and animated content. Franchise characters have also populated two movie releases, which together grossed more than $500 million worldwide, plus animated series, location-based entertainment and consumer products.
