He is known for roles including Stringer Bell in the HBO series The Wire, DCI John Luther in the BBC One series Luther, and Nelson Mandela in the biographical film Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom (2013). He has been nominated four times for a Golden Globe Award for Best Actor – Miniseries or Television Film, winning one, and was nominated five times for a Primetime Emmy Award.

Idris Elba to pen children’s book series inspired by his daughter Isan

Idris Elba is best known for his worldly-wise appeal in shows like Luther and The Wire but it turns out that he also has a sentimental side.

The 48-year-old actor is in the process of writing a series of children’s books inspired by his daughter, Isan. Idris has just signed a multi-book deal with HarperCollins and spoke about how thrilled he was to be putting pen to paper.

He announced the news on Twitter saying: ‘I feel privileged to have to opportunity to bring stories inspired by daughter to life.’ While he didn’t divulge any more details about the books, Idris did reveal that they would be ‘publishing across the globe’ so no doubt we’ll be able to pick up a copy or two here.
