Eyebrows were raised when Wigan Warriors swooped for Iain Thornley but he is aiming to silence the doubters who have queried the club’s decision to resign him.
The 30-year-old centre has rejoined his hometown club from Leigh Centurions following previous spells at Hull Kingston Rovers and Catalans Dragons.
Thornley began his career in the vaunted Wigan academy as an 11-year-old and his surprise return to the DW Stadium marks his third spell at the club.
After stints at Sale Sharks and Leeds Carnegie, the Warriors re-signed him in 2012 and he went on to help the club to a Challenge Cup and Super League double the following season.
