my lack of desire for children feels like an innate part of my personality. From a young age, I preferred teddy bears to dolls – a foreshadowing of my current habit of staring longingly at dogs on my daily walk, while I’ll barely notice babies in prams.I appreciate that, compared to many women, I’m very lucky.
I can’t imagine the pain experienced when you long for a baby you can’t have, or are forced into motherhood against your will.
We live in a society where choosing to remain child-free is relatively acceptable, and there are endless opportunities for women like me to live full lives without embracing motherhood.
