Jimmy Savile was born in Leeds in 1926, and he was the youngest of seven children. 29 years later he would commit his first known incident of abuse.
He would go on to commit 100s more. Now Savile is the subject of a new Netflix documentary, which is released on April 6.Savile was known for hosting popular family shows such as Top of the Pops and Jim’ll Fix It for decades.
In his life, he is thought to have raised around £40 million for charity, much of which went into hospitals, some of which he worked in as a volunteer porter.But below his seemingly successful career, Savile used his position of influence at organisations such as the BBC and Stoke Mandeville Hospital to violate, assault and molest innocent victims - many vulnerable or underage.
The monster had received a warning from Surrey Police in 2009 after an incident alleged to have taken place at Duncroft School, but the Crown Prosecution Service said there was insufficient evidence to pursue a prosecution.
