Earl of East, moved into their east London home, the 40ft by 18ft garden was a bare, blank space.‘We wanted it to be an extension of the house, a space we could use as a separate living room,’ says Firmin. ‘We designed it ourselves, and we were really clear that we wanted it to have three functions: an area where we could relax and sit, an area to eat, and somewhere to prepare food, so that in the summer we could double our living space.’The main landscaping took a couple of weeks.
