Lawyers warn 'criminals will be put back on streets' as courts boycotted across Scotland

May 17, over a dispute with the government regarding funding throughout the coronavirus crisis. Members of the Scottish Solicitors Bar Association (SSBA) will not defend cases in court rooms throughout the duration of the day.

Sheriff courts in Aberdeen, Edinburgh and Glasgow are just some that will be affected by the action. SSBA claim that criminals could be allowed to roam the streets due to the dispute with the government.

The Glasgow Bar Association took to Twitter to say: "Last Monday: 56 custody cases. Today: 35 custody cases in Glasgow."Would it be cynical to suggest there has been a decision made on high to limit the number of custodies today in light of the custody court action?
