Department for Works and Pensions (DWP) temporarily suspended Personal Independence Payment (PIP) face-to-face assessments in March and a decision on whether to extend that measure is expected this week.
This change means that the DWP has been trying to assess claims by looking at supporting evidence submitted in the application form, medical evidence provided by healthcare professionals and talking to claimants over the phone.
While this style of assessment may reduce some concerns about attending a meeting in person, it’s still one that claimants should prepare for as the outcome will determine the level of financial support, if any, to be awarded.
