As the impact of Covid-19 tore through the hospitality industry, restaurants, bars and cafés "pivoted" overnight into traiteurs, delis, bottle shops, liquor stores and takeaways.
Chefs and restaurateurs acted fast to save their business, generate cash and salvage jobs. Many sought also to do some good.
As recently as last Wednesday, Angela Hartnett’s Mayfair restaurant Murano was open for business, albeit cautiously, serving the chef’s famous hand-rolled pasta and Amalfi lemon tart.
