Arsenal have missed out on signing highly-rated 20-year-old midfielder Dominik Szoboszlai after he officially agreed to join RB Leipzig on a four-and-a-half-year contract.
Szoboszlai was heavily linked with a move to the Emirates, with manager Mikel Arteta keen to add a creative midfielder after the club failed to sign Houssem Aouar from Lyon over the summer.
Real Madrid and Bayern Munich were also linked with the player but they were said to favour a summer move, while Leipzig and Arsenal were keen on signing Szoboszlai in January.
It was claimed that the player's agent, Matyas Esterhazy, confirmed the Gunners' interest while at a business panel discussion at the offices of the Hungarian edition of Forbes magazine back in November.
