The former Bayer Leverkusen midfielder joins Hakim Ziyech, Timo Werner, Ben Chilwell and Thiago Silva at the club and means manager Frank Lampard has a wealth of options at his disposal.
They are still targeting more additions, with a new goalkeeper top of the list after Kepa Arrizabalaga made a number of high profile errors last season.Rennes stopper Edouard Mendy has emerged as their top target, with reports suggesting they could seal an £18m move for the 28-year-old.
Kepa looks set to stay at the club but, if the Blues can get the Mendy deal over the line then he could start in goal for their opening.
