I was going across different climates and seasons in real time, and figuring out how to adapt to that. My main coping mechanism was my travel coat: a military-surplus quilted liner.
It was holey and worn and not fashionable at all, but it was so comfortable and functional. Meanwhile, officially I was still living in New York.
