Horrifying moment tank 'drives over' car with pensioner inside – and he survives

Russian tank swerved and crushed into his car in the capital city of Ukraine. The shocking video shared by Ukrainian journalist Alexander Khrebet shows an apparent Russian armoured vehicle carrying a surface-to-air missile system running over a civilian car that is driving in an opposite direction.The "Gopher", spotted in the Obolon district of Kyiv, crushes the car and leaves it completely flattened.In another clip he posted, several members of local residents are seen rushing to the driver's rescue as they desperately pull him from the wreckage.The pensioner is trapped at the driver's seat as the front and the back of his car is completely scrapped into pieces.Later Belarus politician Franak Viacorka shared updates on Twitter and said the man survived with minor injuries.The footage sent shockwaves to many viewers online, with one saying: "I couldn't imagine that we would indeed wake up to this horror."A second wrote: "How sad is such a scene, may a solution arise to this unrest and lives being lost."Kyiv was devastated by numerous rocket strikes on early Friday morning (February 25) as citizens rushed to underground stations to seek shelter from the raids.The invasion sparked an exodus from the capital on Thursday, sending traffic into gridlock when civilians fled to Kyiv and other western parts of the country.Russia says they have "eliminated" 200 Ukrainian troops and that there were no Russian losses, reported state news agency RIA Novosti.For more stories from the Daily Star, sign up for one of our newsletters here.The Russian Defence Ministry says: "The success of the landing force was ensured by suppressing all air defence systems near the landing site, full isolation of the area of military action from the air.
