EastEnders and Hollyoaks actor Richard Blackwood appeared on Good Morning Britain on Thursday where he spoke to hosts Alex Beresford and Charlotte Hawkins about his experiences of racism growing up in London.
Richard is reprising his role as Chris Adler in Typical, a play that explores racism in British society, after Adler died in police custody in 1998.
Former soldier Alder choked to death while handcuffed and lying on the floor of a police station in Hull, and the officers did nothing.
On the subject of racism, Richard revealed that for him growing up, it was almost normalised to hear that black people had died in police custody under mysterious circumstances.
