Some Londoners have woken up to snow this morning, as the Met Office warns of a weekend of wild weather. The hilly village of Hampstead, in north London, got a rare heavy dumping overnight that had locals breaking out their umbrellas this morning.
The Hertfordshire towns and villages of Radlett, Bushey, Watford, Borehamwood, and Elstree also got snowfall. The frosty start came as an amber warning is in force for parts of England, with heavy rain, ice and snow forecast to wreak flood havoc that could potentially cut off some areas.
Hilly parts of the capital got a rare covering in this morning's chill, after recent weeks' predictions for snow failed to deliver.
